Beveled Glass Suncatchers With a Little View of Nature
Joanne Wallin Bell
I do a lot of gardening before I can begin to make my pressed flower sun catchers. I grow and gather flowers, ferns, leaves and weeds and press them in flower presses. When they are dry I enhance my flowers and foliage with paints, inks, and dyes to prevent fading. After another drying process, I arrange them between sheets of beveled glass and solder them together using lead free solder and traditional stained glass soldering techniques. I embellish my work with a unique soldering style and also with various types of etched and stained glass. I gather inspiration for my crafts from all the natural beauty surrounding me in these wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains that I am so fortunate to call home. I travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as forays into the Midwest to sell my work at juried art and craft shows. There’s always a large selection of suncatchers at the gallery.
